But at the same time, it has to be strong and able to take the load comfortably. Another thing on our checklist was cost because we wanted our racks to be affordable.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWe went for steel, which covered all those bases, and to give it some protection we decided on powder coating, which resists rust and keeps the metal in good condition. We insisted on the very best precision engineering so that when the rack is assembled and attached to the back of the vehicle, it all fits together nice and tight and firm.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThen we fitted \u003cstrong\u003e6 bike carriers\u003c\/strong\u003e to the back of a variety of vehicles, loaded each one with half a dozen bikes of various types and took them out into the great Australian landscape to see how they fared and how the vehicles responded. Several refinements later we went into production, confident that the racks stayed put and the bikes were stable and secure.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eWhy We Chose a Vertical Design For The 6 Bike Carrier\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWe looked at all sorts of ideas, and the one that stood out involved hanging the bikes by their front wheels, secured with tie-downs which can be done up and undone in a trice. Because the rack is fitted to the back of the vehicle, it is easily accessible, so you just place the wheel in the frame, strap it in and you’re in business.
